ABOUT

SO, WHO IS THIS DO-GOODER?
That’s me, Alli D. Seigel. This is a picture from our honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. What a wonderful experience planning a wedding and getting married was! Everything about my wedding was magical and better than I could’ve ever imagined! However, after the high from the wedding and honeymoon started to drift away, I began to think (I mean really think) about the “real world”. What a dreadful phrase. I mean, here I was, approaching 30,(ahhh!), and what did I want to accomplish in this lifetime? Great and supportive family? Check. Amazing friends? Check. The best husband anyone could ask for? Check check check. Even though I did have all the riches in the world, constantly being surrounded by supportive and loving family and friends, I started to feel a hunger to find meaning and purpose– a desire to help others and do something outside of myself.
And then one day, a few weeks ago, I did something small… I bought flowers for a friend for no reason at all (other than I thought she needed a sweet little pick-me-up). It turned out that she had to cancel our dinner plans and I never got to give her the flowers. But from that little flower purchase, an idea hit me (literally had a light bulb moment): I would do something “nice” for friends and family every day for an entire year, starting January 1st 2009. Then I thought, “ Well, I guess it doesn’t just have to be nice things for friends and family. I should include nice things for strangers, charities, animals, the world… and anything else I can think of.” And so the idea of 365 Days of Goodness was born. 365 Good Deeds in 365 Days. A challenge that has already changed me for the better.

Alli,
You’re pretty special! I’m so glad your mother sent me the info. I’ll keep reading. Maybe your acts of kindness and goodness will give me some ideas to make MY life better by making someone else’s life better.
Hi Allison, I heard about your website from your mom, and thought it would be a real inspiration to 17-18 year old teenagers who cannot see beyond their own worlds. How about sharing your ideas with these kids, I could make it a type of community service project for credit. If you have the time, I have 200 kids who could benefit from doing something good and feeling proud of themselves. Sincerely, Fred G.
Dear Alli,
I love your project! I, too, am performing 365 acts of kindness in one year, as part of my Kindness Cure Campaign–a movement to motivate people to help me perform one million acts of kindness. Would love to chat with you and have you sign up for our campaign. My number is 919-606-9376. I’m getting ready to go on CBS Early Morning to talk about my project and would love to mention yours. Wanted to thank you too for the great daily quotes. I tweet them all the time and get a lot of retweets as a result. Best of luck to you! I hope to talk to you soon. Hugs, CJ Scarlet
I don’t know if I ever took the time to let you know how wonderful I think you are to do this. I am so proud to call you my friend.
Always let me know if there is a good deed I can be involved in.
See you soon in the magical land of corned beef and waffle fries,
Robin
Cleaning off my desk and I found the link to the site. Checked to see if you are still being a good girl and you are! I hope your acts of kindness are inspiring others.
Hi Alison
Came accross your site quite by accident.
My wife and I (and our kids) had taken time out to move to live in a mud hut in a very remote and poor village in the East Coast of South Africa running various projects (check out http://www.bythetipsofourfingers.blogspot.com)
Anyway, we started a blog while up there and I have found it quite fun and theraputic blogging each day.
For fun I started another blog 365goodideas.blogspot.com
Which was going to poke fun at new ideas and see if I could come up with a new idea each day for a year.
(I shuold have cheated and worked out like 100 before I started s I am drying up on day three)
Anyway caught your site and will make sure I include some good deeds in my own 365 good ideas blog.
Good one
–Kindness–perhaps a forgotten ‘art’ in this all too unkind world. Shanti Om.
