WE’RE LEAVIN’ ON A JET PLANE!

Exciting news over here at 365! Drum roll please…..
Matt and I just booked flights to Peru and Costa Rica (among other South and Central American destinations) to volunteer for a wonderful non-profit, Creative Corners! That’s right, 365 is hittin’ the road! We will be living with host families for about six weeks, and will be working with Creative Corners in orphanages and impoverished neighborhoods, bringing art and creativity to disadvantaged, abandoned, and abused children.

We are leaving mid September for our “good deed quest” down south! We will have different upcoming opportunites for you all to help and support us on our journey. Don’t ya worry though, this here blog isn’t goin’ anywhere while we’re away! 365 is here to stay! I will find ways to update you all about our acts of goodness and kindness on the road, dependent upon the internet situation of course.
There are many volunteer programs in South and Central America, but we chose to volunteer with Creative Corners because we knew we wanted to work with children, and we knew we wanted to (hopefully) be able to make a positive impact in their lives. Both Matt and I are both creative, right-brainers, and we hope to be able to bring our creativity to these children.
Another reason we chose Creative Corners, is because of the founder, Monique. Although, I have never met Monique (not yet at least!) I feel a connection with her, as we are similar in the fact that we are both young women with a strong conviction to make a positive difference in this world. We both have been teachers in the past, and we can both see how the arts can have such a positive impact on children. She started Creative Corners after she went on a volunteer trip to Bolivia, and although loved her experience, wanted to find a way to combine travel, the arts, and community projects. She was one young woman with a vision and made it happen. I am one young woman with a vision too, and I am inspired by the volunteer organization that Monique has created. That’s why we chose to volunteer at Creative Corners. I hope you all will follow our journey as we make our way through South and Central America spreading the goodness along the way!
